    Re client control - I disagree with your disagreeing, counselor. It's incumbent upon lawyers to guide the client to the best resolution of the matter for the client especially when the client is getting in its own way.

    As Brendan Sullivan said, "I am not a potted plant." On the other hand, some clients just want errand boys (and girls); they're not interested in wise counsel; just execution as they see it. And that's ok too.

    Until he recently moved to Chadbourne Parke, John Squires was chief IP counsel at Goldman Sachs. He should have been able to advise his client better.

    I agree with Marco that the letter was laughable.
